Today, Friday 10 May, Mauao went took their learning to the beach.  They learnt a local pūrākau (legend) and took their learning to make sand sculptures.

Poripori was a taniwha from Tauranga Moana.  He was a bit of a bully and caused a lot of raruraru(trouble).  Te Pura, another taniwha, got sick and tired of the mamae(hurt) Poripori was causing so he chased him around Tuhua Isaland all the way down to Porirua where Poripori now lives.
